North
Terrace

North Terrace is Adelaide’s leafy, cultural boulevard and within easy walking distance of the hotel. Visitors can immerse themselves in a sensual feast of wine, art, theatre, books, displays, exhibitions, memorials and exotic plant life.

Start by introducing yourself to South Australia’s extraordinary wine regions at the National Wine Centre, where long lazy breakfasts and tasty lunches are served daily, and over 120 different South Australian wines can be tasted.

Then, pop next door and meander through the beautiful and exotic Adelaide Botanic Gardens before exploring the often wonderful world-class exhibitions and displays at the renown Art Gallery of South Australia, South Australian Museum and State Library of South Australia.

As you head towards King William Street, discover the many statues and memorials celebrating the lives of some exceptional South Australians. You’ll also find two of South Australia’s main university campuses as well as many student accommodation buildings.

Further to the West, you’ll encounter Government and Parliament Houses along with the iconic Adelaide Festival Centre, Adelaide Casino, the recently extended Adelaide Convention Centre, the unique SAHMRI headquarters and the soon to be completed Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Riverbank
Precinct

The Riverbank Precinct is a collection of buildings and spaces on both sides of the River Torrens linked by a magnificent, architecturally designed footbridge to create a unique entertainment playground of festivals, art, dance, music, theatre, exhibitions and sport. Whether it’s a show at the acclaimed Festival Centre, an AFL game at the stunning new Adelaide Oval,

an event or exhibition at the Convention Centre or even a flutter at the Adelaide Casino, it’s all part of a unique variety of experiences in food, entertainment, culture, and events that the Riverbank Precinct offers and all within walking distance of the hotel.

Shopping

If shopping is more your thing, the Mayfair Hotel is directly opposite Adelaide’s premier shopping precinct, Rundle Mall. The recently refurbished mall is home to all the major retail brands and is alive with a variety of buskers, spruikers, outdoor cafés and entertainment.

Heading east, Rundle Mall changes to Rundle Street and home to a string of unique and funky boutiques, Palace Nova Cinemas, pubs and many cafés and restaurants.

Just ten minutes walk, or a free two-stop tram ride away, is the Adelaide Central Market. The fresh food market is an Adelaide institution where people come from all over the city to shop for

fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood, breads and bakery items, cheeses, small goods, sweets, nuts, health foods and much more all under one roof.

The atmosphere, smells, colours, sounds and different cultures make for a shopping experience unlike any other and is the reason many Adelaideans won’t shop anywhere else. There are also plenty of little areas to take a break and relax with a quick meal and a coffee. If you’re after a more substantial meal, the international flavours of Gouger Street’s many restaurants and cafés are right next door.

Nightlife

The Mayfair Hotel proudly sits at the entrance to Hindley Street which comes alive at night when Adelaide comes out to party.

This bustling, vibrant street is full of pubs, live music venues, dance clubs, small intimate bars and a variety of international eateries.
